Bariloche applies a new Eco Fee

A new tax applied for tourist staying in Bariloche Hotels.

A new tax was introduced in the city of Bariloche as of February 20th 2017, affecting tourists staying in Bariloche, who will have to pay a little extra from now on.

Everyone who stays overnight will have to pay AR$ 280 per person, per night in the 5* hotels in the city of Bariloche, but only for maximum of three nights per stay. In the case of 4* hotels, the city tax cost will be AR$220 per person / night and in 3* hotels, AR$140.

Vacationers staying for more than 3 nights at a time will be exempt from paying the extra charge of the extra nights; Also, there is an exception for kids under 14 years old.

Moreover, due to the decision of the local Government, travelers will be requested to pay the eco-fee once they check out, and directly to the hotel. These costs will be valid throughout 2021, but are subject to the city Governments decision to be updated later on.

Accommodation in Bariloche is now VAT-free!

On the other hand, what has not been modified since 2017, is the elimination of VAT (21%) on accommodation charges all across Argentina for foreign travelers.

In this case, international tourists will receive a direct and automatic reimbursement of the 21% VAT charged on accommodation in Argentina, if placing a booking directly with the hotel. In the case any passenger is booking their accommodation through an agency, this tax will not be included from the beginning and the hotels costs will be charged tax free.

It is important to mention that this VAT rule covers hotel stays but excludes the VAT imposed on breakfast or meals services if they are part of the cost of lodging. Other hotel services and extras to the accommodation are excluded and must be billed separately.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][vc_separator][vc_btn title=”Back to News” style=”flat” color=”sky” i_icon_fontawesome=”fas fa-caret-left” add_icon=”true” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.trips-southamerica.com%2Fin-the-news%2F|title:In%20The%20News”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
