New solar train will connect Argentina with Machu Picchu

The first solar train in South America it’s for tourist purpose.

It will have the privilege of being the second train in the world with these characteristics, after the one (the existing) in Australia. The train began to be built in 2018 in the province of Jujuy.

It is expected that by 2019, August more precisely, the construction of a 20 km stretch will be completed in the Argentine north. In the first section, the province of Jujuy will be connectedwith Purmamarca and Maimará. Then the roads will arrive to Bolivia and later to Cusco, the end of the route will be in the great tourist destination of Machu Picchu.

The main objective of this project is to promote tourist trips between the province of Jujuy in Argentina and Cusco.

To begin with it will be a small train, it will have a car for 240 passengers. Its speed will be 30 km / h. As for its structure, the train will have special solar panels on the roof of its structure, so that the train can operate in this way. Also, it should be mentioned that the train will be hybrid, since the system also has a hydraulic diesel.
