In its origins, the main economic activities were livestock, agriculture and mining. In 1970, the Public Companies of Medell\u00edn, decided to create a dam being flooded 2262 hectares of land\u00a0 to construct a great hydroelectric complex. This megaproject produced great impact socially, economically, politically, environmentally and culturally in the locality. And this is how this town did not have another option but to change its economy to the tourism industry.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Enjoy a spectacular view from the top through the heart of the Antioque\u00f1o East and arrive by helicopter to the town of the tiles to then get to the \u201cPe\u00f1\u00f3n of Guatap\u00e9\u201d. A monolith of 220 meters of height, second largest in South America, surrounded by the impressive dam of Guatap\u00e9.
