Chile to get stricter with the visits in Easter Island<\/span><\/b><\/h1>\n

The Chilean authorities decided to prohibit tourists from staying more than 30 days on the island.
\n<\/p>\n

Despite its isolated location about 3,500 km away from Chilean coast, Easter Island or Rapa Nui, it is one of the main touristic destinations in South America, mainly due to the unique stone monuments raising along the island.<\/p>\n

However, due to the same tourists coming to see them, along with the growing continental Chilean migrants, the welfare of the island is at risk.<\/p>\n

For this reason, is that the Chilean Government has passed some new riles that will mainly reduce the time on the island not only for tourists but also to the Chileans that are not part of the Rapa Nui community, from 90 days to 30 days.<\/p>\n

Moreover, from August 1st, 2018, the Chilean Investigative Police (PDI – Polic\u00eda\u00a0de Investigaciones de Chile) will request all passengers to complete a form\u00a0at the time of boarding to Easter Island\u00a0(“Formulario \u00danico de Ingreso a Rapa Nui”), requesting the following information:<\/p>\n

  • Personal information<\/li>\n
  • Passport valid for at least 6 months after the date of boarding<\/li>\n
  • Round trip air ticket to Easter Island, acquired previously<\/li>\n
  • Proof of hotel reservation in a place approved by “Servicio Nacional de Turismo” (SERNATUR)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Any person (Chilean or foreign) who enters Rapa Nui, may stay for a maximum period of 30 days.<\/p>\n

    These measures aim to protect the ecological and cultural heritage of Easter Island.<\/p>\n
