For dessert, you should definitely try the “Tamarind balls”! They’re made by combining tamarind pulp and sugar, which is then moulded into small balls and chilled. These balls are perfect for any time of the day. And if you’re feeling thirsty, you must try the “Corozo juice”. It’s a refreshing nectar made from an exotic fruit that is high in vitamin C. It’s ideal for quenching thirst, especially on hot days.”

Pacific cuisine and coastal towns

You must try the local specialities, starting with “Pusandao de bagre”, a soup made with fresh catfish cooked in coconut milk, cassava, potatoes and plantains. This hearty and delicious main course is usually served in a clay pot to enhance its flavour and is not to be missed!

For dessert, “Cocada”, a delicious traditional sweet made from panela and grated coconut. It’s made in small portions while it’s still hot and eaten cold once it’s set. The perfect accompaniment to these delicious dishes is “Borojó juice”, from the fruit of the same name that is native to the Pacific region. Although it’s not widely known, it has many health benefits. Its high vitamin B and niacin content make it a natural revitaliser. A borojó juice with water or milk can boost your energy at any time of the day.

Another incredible place in the region are the Bay of Málaga to Nuquí and Gorgona. You’ll have the chance to see humpback whales. They come from Antarctica to mate between July and November. It’s a truly magical experience!
