Temporary Closure from August 3, 2026
Starting August 3, 2026, the Devil’s Throat Circuit at Iguazú National Park will be temporarily closed as a preventive measure in response to forecasts of extraordinary rises in the Iguazú River.
The decision was confirmed by Iguazú National Park authorities and Iguazú Argentina S.A. following hydrological and weather projections that anticipate unusually high river levels during September and October.
Preventive Removal of the Walkways
As part of the preventive protocol, the circuit’s walkways and railings will be dismantled and stored in a safe location to protect the infrastructure from possible damage.
The dismantling operation is expected to take approximately 40 days. This period refers exclusively to the dismantling process and should not be considered an estimated reopening timeframe.
The Devil’s Throat Circuit will only be reassembled once river levels and technical assessments indicate that conditions are safe. Therefore, a reopening date has not yet been confirmed.
Iguazú National Park Remains Open
The temporary closure applies only to the Devil’s Throat Circuit. Iguazú National Park will remain open, and visitors will continue to have access to its other circuits, trails and services, including:
- Upper Circuit
- Lower Circuit
- Green Trail
- Macuco Trail
- Ecological Jungle Train
- Yvyrá Retá Visitor Center
- Yaguareté Territory
- Boat excursions
- Historical exhibition of the former Hotel Cataratas
- Shops and dining facilities
Visits to the Argentine side of Iguazú Falls can continue, with itineraries adjusted to include the park’s other natural attractions and visitor experiences.
