Joint actions between Chile and Argentina
to attract more Chinese travelers
The governments of Argentina and Chile during August 2018 have formalized an agreement between both countries for the reciprocal recognition of visas for tourists from the People’s Republic of China.
Thus, the agreement includes among its main points that visitors from China who have visas granted by the US, Canada and the Schengen Area (countries of the European Union) will not require a visa to enter Chile and Argentina.
Likewise, the authorities agreed that in respect of Chinese nationals who do not have visas granted by trans-Andean countries, a single Tourism Visa will be established, which may be granted by the Consulates in China of Argentina or Chile and that will facilitate the circulation of travelers of said country between both destinations.
The agreement would come into effect in January 2019.
