I’d have to choose a place to always come back to, the first one on my list is Bariloche. I explored that place in 2018 and I fall in love with that city!

Its landscapes captivated me… the lakes and mountains are amazing, it is a work of art of the nature.
If you are thinking to visit Bariloche, there are some things that you shouldn’t miss!

· Mountain hiking
· Mmm, chocolate!
· Regional flavors
· Take a navigation experience
· Drive along the 7 lakes route

Mountain hiking

You will get the best views on the top of the mountains. There are different circuits to take.

In my trip, we hiked the Cerro Llao Llao while we were doing the “circuito chico”. If you are doing the circuit on your own way with your car or a bike, you can make a stop and take the trail on your own, it is an easy circuit and the views worth it!

If you don’t want to walk, other mountain with nice views is the Cerro Campanario. You can reach the top by chairlift and take some photos from the viewpoint. You will also find a bar there, where you can take a coffee or buy something to eat.

Mmm, chocolate!

On the main street of the town you will find a lot of chocolate shops! You have to taste them. My favourites ones were Rapa Nui, Mamuschka and El Reino de los Chocolates. Delicious!
Here they even have a museum dedicated to this delicacy! It’s a must.

Regional flavors

The gastronomy in the lakes region is also very good!  My favourite dishes were the lamb casserole and the trout. The lamb empanadas were tasty too!

Take a navigation

Several lake tours depart from Puerto Pañuelo to Puerto Blest, and also to Victoria Island and the Arrayanes forest. I suggest to take the tour to the Arrayanes forest, it is a magic place that seems to be like a fairy tale landscape.

Drive along the 7 lakes route

The best way to do the 7 lakes tour is self-driving, because it gives you the possibility to make all the stops that you want and have the freedom to explore the places on your own time. But if you don’t like to drive, you can take a regular or private guided tour!

On my trip, I did this circuit on my own car. I took the route 40 from Bariloche to Villa La Angostura where I made the first stop to have lunch. It is a lovely place; if you have time you can take a walk through the town before continue your way.

After that you will start to see the lakes at left of the road and you can make stops on the viewpoints during the way.

The 7 Lakes route is the perfect setting to enjoy the Patagonian nature. In addition to contemplating them, it is possible to bathe in its waters or do kayak. Whichever way you choose, this road will amaze you.

Final words

Bariloche has a lot of more things to do! But it is just an idea of some things that you can do on all seasons.

Of course if you go to Bariloche in winter, you can do winter activities like snowboard or ski on the Cathedral Mountain.

If you go in spring or summer and you like adventure, you can do rafting in different rivers depending on your experience.

I hope you like this place as much as I do! Please do not hesitate on contact me. I’d be really glad to assist you!
