Update – February 2026
Tayrona Park Closure Ordered by Authorities
The Tayrona Park closure was officially ordered through Resolution 091 on February 17, 2026, by Colombia’s National Natural Parks authority. As a result, all tourism activities inside the park are suspended until further notice.
At this time, visitor access is completely restricted. Importantly, this is not a seasonal or environmental closure. Instead, the measure was implemented for security reasons in the area.
What Does the Tayrona Park Closure Include?
Specifically, the resolution establishes the following measures:
- Total prohibition of visitor entry.
- Suspension of all tourism service operations within the protected area.
- Cancellation of ticket pre-sales.
- Reopening subject to a favorable safety assessment from the Risk Management Office.
Therefore, the park will remain closed until authorities confirm that proper safety conditions have been restored.
Reasons Behind the Tayrona Park Closure
According to official reports, the decision was made due to several factors:
- Public safety concerns.
- Threats directed at park personnel.
- Blockades at official access points.
- Unauthorized entries and illegal charges.
- Recent infrastructure damage.
Consequently, the Tayrona Park closure was implemented as a preventive measure to protect both visitors and tourism operators.
