April 2025 Update
Visa Requirements for U.S., Canadian, and Australian Citizens Traveling to Brazil
Starting April 10, 2025, citizens of the United States, Canada, and Australia will need to obtain an electronic visa (eVisa) to enter Brazil for tourism or business purposes. This requirement applies to all travelers from these nationalities arriving by air, sea, or land.
Key details:
- Application Process: The eVisa application must be completed online via the official platform: https://brazil.vfsevisa.com/.
- Processing Time: The average processing time is 5 business days. It is recommended to apply for the eVisa at least 45 days before the planned travel date to avoid possible delays.
- Validity: The eVisa allows stays of up to 90 days per entry.

Required Documents:
- Valid passport (with at least six months’ validity beyond the trip to Brazil).
- Completed online application form.
- Passport-sized photograph (2” x 2” with a white background).
- Flight itinerary showing entry and exit from Brazil.
- Bank statement from the last 30 days showing a minimum balance of $2,000 USD.
- eVisa fee payment via Mastercard, Visa, or UnionPay credit/debit card.
Additional Notes:
- Each traveler, including infants and children, must obtain an individual eVisa.
- The upload of a vaccination card is optional; Brazil does not require proof of vaccination for entry.
- Travelers with a valid physical visa do not need to apply for an eVisa.
Recommendations:
- Print two copies of the eVisa: one to carry with the passport and another in your wallet.
- Save a screenshot or PDF file of the eVisa on your mobile device.
- Keep the email containing the eVisa attachment for reference.
Important: U.S., Canadian, and Australian passengers in Argentina who wish to visit the Brazilian side of the Iguazu Falls, even for a day trip, must have the eVisa.
