El Calafate is a relatively young town in Patagonia, located only 70 km from Los Glaciares National Park, the main attraction of the area. It’s important to take this distance and travel time (about 1.5 hours each way) into account when planning a visit to the park.
Perito Moreno Glacier: The traditional excursion allows visitors plenty of time to explore the boardwalks and enjoy the panoramic views at their own pace. The trails have many stairs and inclines, and only 2 viewpoints are accessible with strollers, so a baby carrier is recommended when visiting the park.
Glaciarium: Visit this glacier museum where kids can learn about glaciers through interactive exhibits and displays. It’s a fun and educational experience that will deepen their understanding of the region’s natural wonders.
Laguna Nimez Reserve: Take a leisurely stroll through this bird sanctuary on the shores of Lake Argentino. Youngsters will enjoy spotting different species of birds, including flamingos, swans and ducks, as well as other local wildlife.
