Valdes Peninsula: The 2019 whale watching season has started

The whale watching season has officially begun in Puerto Pirámides, Península Valdés, Argentina.

This is an experience that allows you to see up close the majestic Southern Right Whales, that every autumn and winter (Southern Hemisphere) reach the Atlantic coast to reproduce. They can also be seen off the coast of Puerto Madryn and on the beaches of the El Doradillo. The 2018 census was of 1,700 whale specimens, and this year is expected to be a similar number.

Within the whale season that, runs from May to December, it is between the months of September and November when more specimens are found in the area – October being a good month to observe them.

This area is one of the best places in the World to observe whales because it is easy to access; a large number of specimens arrive in the area; you can see them from both, the coast and on boats; there is the possibility of seeing females give birth or breastfeed their calves; the watching season is relatively long and, finally, you can combine whale watching with the observation of other marine mammals and penguins (which are in the region between September and March).
