Named the same as Parallel 0º, Ecuador is located on the terrestrial equatorial line, for which its territory is found in both hemispheres.

The best time to travel to Ecuador varies depending on the region of the country are you going to. If you are planning to visit the beaches the best season is surprisingly the rainy one, that takes place from December through to May as this is a lot fresher than the dry season from June to November which can be way too cool as well as cloudy. But now, most people prefer dry and sunny days, which means one of the best times to travel to Ecuador is often considered to be the months of June through September. This is certainly the time when you can be more certain of enjoying superb panoramic views of Ecuador’s grand mountains and volcanoes.

Ecuador can be reached by flying, road, river or sea. Is located at the extreme of the north occidental of South America, with an area of 283.560 Km2, it has coasts at Pacific and Atlantic. TAME is Ecuador’s main airline and offers international flights from Quito and Guayaquil to New York, Fort Lauderdale, Lima, São Paulo, Havana, Bogotá, Cali and Buenos Aires.
It is not easy but you can travel from Ecuador to Peru via the Napo, which joins the Amazon near Iquitos. It is also possible to travel the Putumayo River to Colombia and Peru.
The only two countries that share borders with Ecuador are Peru and Colombia.
From Colombia: The only safe border crossing that currently exists is Tulcán, in the northern highlands.
From Peru: There are three border crossings. Huaquillas, south of Machala, receives most of the international passenger traffic between the two countries. Macará, is accessed from Loja through the beautiful southern highlands and finally La Balsa, in Zumba South of Vilcabamba is this small and remote border crossing, convenient and with little traffic.
By Airplane: The only national is Tame. It has flights to Baltra and San Cristóbal, in the Galapagos. Avianca, Emetebe, LAN and Tame also have flights to the islands of Baltra, San Cristóbal and Isabela (Galapagos).
By Boat: The most common boat is the motorized canoe, you can also choose from all kinds of boats, from a small sailboat to a cruise ship equipped with air-conditioned cabins and private bathrooms. Several infrequent passenger ferries run between the islands; It is the most affordable option to move from one to another.
