Named the same as Parallel 0º, Ecuador is located on the terrestrial equatorial line, for which its territory is found in both hemispheres.
Home to a wide variety of endemic species, which at the time have been the subject of studies by the English naturalist Charles Darwin, which led to the materialization of the theory of evolution by natural selection. The islands have gained worldwide fame due to the particularity of their fauna, especially the tortoises known as “Galapagos”.

The People

Ecuadorians come from a wide  variety of ethnic backgrounds, this is why the local culture is as vibrant and beautiful as the hand-woven tapestries of its local artisans.
Ecuadorians are known for being warm and polite. They can be quite tactile and tend to stand much closer to each other when speaking than in many other cultures. As a result they are highly tuned to body language and non-verbal communication.

The Language

The official language is Spanish but Quechua and Shuar are the two major indigenous languages. Quechua is the language of the Inca, which was the dominant culture when the Spanish arrived. Shuar comes from a group of indigenous people in the Ecuadorian Amazon.
However, it is possible to communicate in English at the three, four and five star hotels.
