SKY airline will restart its operations in June

The Chilean company SKY announced that domestic flights will start operating from June 1st, this is the first stage of its “Fly Safe”; plan. The itinerary will be limited and there will be flexible policies for passengers.

In order to be able to start operating again, SKY implemented a safety protocol in the airplanes and at the airport, in addition to the recommendations of national and international health authorities. The “Fly Safe” plan consists on resuming all of its flights in a progressive way. All the security measures adopted aim to avoid any risk to their clients and workers and to give them peace of mind when traveling.

The main measures that we can mention are the following: blocked middle seats, mandatory use of masks, renewal of the air in the cabins every three minutes, enhanced cleaning procedures for aircraft and HEPA filters on recirculated air.

Security measures will also be extended to boarding rooms, ensuring a bigger space between passengers, contactless check-in and baggage processes and disinfection to baggage conveyor systems.

Regarding the itinerary established by the airline, the operation will star with flights to Iquique, Calama, Antofagasta, Concepción, Puerto Montt and Balmaceda, with a reduced number of frequencies. These destinations are the priority at the moment, because they are the ones with the highest demand and relevance for the country, due to the mining sector and economic activity. On the other hand, the reactivation of the international routes is planned for the third quarter of this year, as far as possible.

Along with the safety protocol, SKY also intensify its flexibility policy for all passengers who purchase their tickets, who will be able to make changes until one hour before the flight and only by paying the fare difference, if any.
