A new cruise line is set to start up and provide year-round cruise service for the Argentinean source market.
Alteza Cruises intends to start-up 2017-2018 cruise season, offering cruises from four to 11 nights, the company said.
A Buenos Aires season starts in November, with October seeing departures from Ushuaia to Antarctica.
The cruise line said it would offer departures on a year-round basis, which would be a first for the South American market. The onboard program is all-inclusive, with shore excursions included on longer sailings.
The deployment program shows calls at unusual and new cruise destinations such as Balneário Camboriú, which received its first cruise call in March. Mar del Plata (Argentina) and Florianópolis (Brazil) haven’t seen regular cruise ship calls anytime recently and are also on Alteza’s itineraries.
The company is a joint venture between a local investor group, Hotel Express Latam and an unnamed Greek investor said to have “experience” in the cruise industry, according to reports.
Alteza’s website said it will be offering the voyages aboard the 320-passenger Med Queen, which currently operates for Abou Merhi Cruises. A spokesperson for Abou Merhi told Cruise Industry News the company had not had any talks with Alteza.
