Brazil reinstates visa requirements for 4 nationalities.

Citizens of the United States, Australia, Canada, and Japan will be required to have a Tourist Visa starting from October 23, 2023.

Brazil, a vibrant and diverse country in South America, has long been a popular destination for travelers from around the world. With its breathtaking landscapes, vibrant cities, rich cultural heritage, and warm hospitality, Brazil offers a truly unique and unforgettable experience.

However, recent developments in visa requirements have sparked attention and discussions among potential visitors. The Brazilian government has announced its decision to reinstate visa requirements for citizens of the United States, Australia, Canada, and Japan, effective from October 23, 2023.

This policy change comes after consultations with the four countries, urging them to consider reciprocity in granting visa exemptions to Brazilian travelers. In this context, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasizes Brazil’s commitment to reciprocal visa agreements and highlights the ongoing negotiations for such arrangements.

The reintroduction of the electronic visa modality brings a renewed process for visa applications. Currently, the only authorized website to apply for tourist visas to enter Brazil is this one.

Will it be possible to apply online, or does it have to be done through a consulate? We estimate that the government will soon communicate a new website, similar to the one used in 2019, with a simpler and more streamlined format.
