Changes in the regulations to acces to Easter Island from September 2019

The government of the Chilean Island of Easter Island has updated for regulations for tourists to visit the island. Please take note.

Easter Island (Rapa Nui in Polynesian) is a Chilean island in the southern Pacific Ocean, over 3700km to the east of the continent, and they are famous for its stone head statues called Moai.

Few areas in the world possess a more mystical environment and scenery than this tiny speck of land, one of the most isolated places on Earth. The only way to get to Easter Island is by plane. LATAM Airways operates flights from Santiago (Chile), and it is a 5 hour flight across the Pacific Ocean.
Recently, the process to access the island has been updated so if you are planning a trip here, be careful to complete the procedure on time and manner so that your trip is not cut short.

As of September 2019, the Migration form required by the Chilean Government called “FUI” (“Formulario Único de Ingreso”, in Spanish) will be requested before boarding the flight to Rapa Nui. When failing to show this form completed, the airline will not allow those passengers to board on the plane.
If you are checking luggage at the LATAM counter in Santiago de Chile airport, a blank form will be handed out to you by the airline staff, however, we suggest to complete it beforehand (available only 48 hr before the flight) and bring it in your mobile.
Nonetheless, having it filled and printed is strongly advised. In the case of only having a connection in Santiago and thus, no need to check-in luggage for the connecting flight to Easter Island, it will be mandatory to bring this form completed, since you may not go through the LATAM Counter in Santiago de Chile Airport.
