From May 2018, at least three Air Europa weekly flights will fly between Madrid and Puerto Iguazú with a stop in Rio de Janeiro.

HOSTELTUR LATAM anticipated that negotiations were in progress to open a flight between Madrid and Puerto Iguazú, and finally this weekend confirmed that the opening is scheduled for May 2018. There will be at least three Air Europa weekly flights that will make a Scale in Rio de Janeiro.
Argentine Tourism Minister Gustavo Santos, together with the Governor of Misiones, Hugo Passalacqua and the president of the Globalia Group, Juan José Hidalgo, made the announcement in Iguazú. With this new route “we continue to increase air connectivity in our country, so that Misiones and Litoral are also gateways for travelers from Europe,” said MINTUR.
During the letter of intent signed on Saturday, Santos stressed that it is “a historical fact” and that gaining connectivity translates into “more tourists, more jobs and more foreign exchange.”
The flight will depart from Madrid, will land first in Rio de Janeiro and continue to Puerto Iguazú and in that sense from the national Ministry of Tourism added that “the scale in Brazil cooperates with the actions that are being undertaken at regional level for the consolidation of the South American brand “.
Currently Air Europa has a daily flight to Buenos Aires and five frequencies to Córdoba, via Asuncion, and within Europe it flies to 25 destinations from nine countries, and through Ryanair to 49 other destinations. Puerto Iguazú Airport has direct flights to Buenos Aires, Salta, Rosario and Cordoba.
Last year Argentina received a total of 145,000 tourists from Spain, its average spending was $ 1,700 and the most visited destinations were Buenos Aires, Iguazu Falls, El Calafate and Ushuaia.
