The Spanish airline began operating on June 15th its new route between Madrid and Barcelona to Santiago de Chile

The Spanish airline began operating on its new route which will connect three times a week the two countries. It is the second South American destination of the company.

“We chose Santiago in the first place because it was in our business plan from the beginning. It is a demanding destination where the competition is tremendously tough,” explained Santiago Fernández, deputy director of Plus Ultra.

The firm, which has been doing the Lima-Madrid route for a year, is committed to Santiago for its “corporate and touristic potential”. Not surprisingly, the capital of the country has been recently chosen as Latin American capital for business tourism and Chile was designated best adventure destination in 2016.
According to the company’s website, the cabin will be divided into three segments: 30 seats in Business, 20 seats in Economy Premium and 225 seats in Tourist, with rates starting from 699 euros.
“We have two types of profiles: the corporate one, which comes to do business, and the one that comes to Chile from tourism or is part of the huge community of Spanish expatriates here,” said Fernandez.
Plus Ultra joins the recent arrival of British Airways to the country with direct London-Santiago flights, increasing connectivity in Chile and Europe.
The new operation will be carried out with an Airbus 340-300 aircraft, adding to the growing supply of Latam, Air France, Iberia, KLM and Alitalia.
